I AM JAMAICA Campaign

I AM JAMAICA Campaign
An initiative of the Jamaican Diaspora

WHO: The campaign features persons throughout the Jamaican community, at home and abroad, celebrities, community leaders, artists, entertainers, entrepreneurs and others, declaring that they are in support of a unified and better Jamaica.

WHY: The campaign calls on Jamaicans at home and in the Diaspora to encourage a sense of personal responsibility for each other and to inspire each other in embracing our talents and resources as a burgeoning global community, for the upliftment and prosperity of our youth, and to evoke an emotional connection of hope, positive vibes, prosperity, oneness, and all other core qualities of Brand Jamaica among Jamaicans worldwide.

WHEN: The public is welcome to upload video (up to 60 seconds) at www.youtube.com/iamjamaica2 or www.facebook.com/iamjamaica2

November 15, 2010 – December 15, 2010
Selection and announcement of winners: January 7, 2011
Prizes will include hotel and destination packages in Jamaica, courtesy of the Jamaica Tourist Board and partners

How to Enter

Review the contest rules and eligibility requirements before you begin so your video meets the criteria. Make a digital video, no more than 60 seconds in length that reflects the theme of the competition—your individual representation of the lively spirit of Jamaica, the resilient Jamaican people and the I AM JAMAICA movement. Your video will be judged on the following criteria:
  • Unique message and content and completion of the phrase, "I AM JAMAICA, because . . ."
  • Creativity and originality
  • Cultural significance
  • Your reflection of the spirit of Jamaica

Rules

  • You must be at least 18 years old or with parental approval.
  • Employees and agents of the Jamaica Tourist Board, Air Jamaica, Jamaicans.com or the Jamaican Diaspora Advisory Board are not eligible to win.
  • Videos must be no longer than 60 seconds in length.
  • Videos must not contain violence, profanity, sex, or direct attacks on individuals or organizations.
  • The video must be your own original creation. No copyrighted music, video, or images may be used in the video.
  • Videos must not infringe on any third party rights.
  • Videos must be accompanied by a video release form (included in the contest entry form).
  • Winners must provide a copy of the original video file to Jamaican Diaspora Advisory Board to receive a prize.
  • By submitting a video to this contest, you grant to I AM JAMAICA campaign a royalty-free license to copy, distribute, modify, display and perform publicly and otherwise use, and authorize others to use, your video for any educational purpose throughout the world and in any media.
  • The I AM JAMAICA campaign reserves the right to make your video available to the general public from its website and to distribute it to groups and any other organizations interested in showing it for educational purposes, including, but not limited to, on Internet sites, at conferences and events, on television, and other media outlets.
  • The I AM JAMAICA campaign will disqualify any entries it deems to contain offensive material.
  • Entries must be received or postmarked by December 15, 2010. Winners will be notified via e-mail and announced on the contest website on January 7, 2011.
  • Entrants must agree to these terms and conditions, or the agreement of a legal guardian must be obtained if the entrant is a minor.
  • The I AM JAMAICA campaign reserves the right to not select a winner if none of the entries received are judged to be high quality based on the Rules and Eligibility.
  • If your video follows the rules and meets the eligibility criteria above, it will be judged by a panel based on creativity, originality, message content, relation to this campaign's theme, and video/audio quality.
